Physical Education
P.E. Teacher: Eric Greiser
Physical Education is the name of the course that places emphasis on movement, sports (team and individual) and living a healthy lifestyle. This class will be referred to as Physical Education or P.E. The name of this class is NOT Gym. Gym is the athletic facility equipped for sports or physical training. When students enter the class they are expected to be prepared and ready to participate and learn. Faculty members will take the students to and from class, which will take place in Purcell Marian's Gymnasium.
P.E. Schedule
Monday- 5th, 3rd, 2nd
Wednesday- 8th, 7th, 6th, 5th, 4th, 1st, K
Friday- 8th, 7th, 6th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st, K
DRESS CODE
All students must show up dressed in their gym uniforms for P.E. Gym uniforms may be purchased at the front office. If assistance is needed, please contact the office at 961-1953.
All students must arrive at school already dressed for P.E. including tennis shoes. For safety reasons, closed-toed and enclosed heeled shoes are required. NO EXCEPTIONS!
I strongly recommend that students bring an extra gym uniform shirt or sweatshirt to wear after P.E. class just in case you sweat. This class requires a lot of movement and if you happen to become sweaty and do not have an extra dry gym uniform shirt or sweatshirt, you will have to wear the wet, sweaty shirt for the rest of the day.
Expectations and Participation
EVERYONE WILL PARTICIPATE EVERYDAY. Students need to have the following materials for class on their assigned P.E. day. These materials include:
P.E. Uniform Shirt or Sweatshirt
P.E. Uniform Shorts or Sweatpants
Athletic Shoes
Good Attitude
Students are required to participate EVERYDAY.Medical Excuses
A student may have parts of class modified for medical reasons, with a note (containing a date and phone number) from a parent for up to 3 days. After 3 days, a physician's note is required. EVERYONE WILL PARTICIPATE EVERYDAY. I will have other work for students to complete that cannot participate in physical activity for any reason.
General P.E. Grading Procedure
Quarter grades are based on participating in activities. There will be additional requirements such as quizzes, tests, effort, newsletters, personal achievement forms and other writing assignments that will be calculated in the final grade.
