Catholic Schools Week 2012

The week of January 30th is Catholic Schools Week. We are celebrating our Catholic Identity with several fun and spirited celebrations throughout the week. Please see the schedule below:
SUNDAY, January 29th
Student Choir sings at 8:30 am and 11:00 am Masses
School Open House: 9:30 am and 12:00 pm with coffee and donuts
MONDAY, January 30th
Penny Wars and Care Packages for Children’s Hospital (see the below)
Crazy Hat Day: Grades K-8
Faith Door Decorating Contest: Classes can decorate their representing our Catholic Faith. Doors will be judged on Thursday, February 2nd and the winner will be announced on Friday, February 3rd.
TUESDAY, January 31st
PTO Meeting and Open House: 6:30 PM – Report Cards Given Out
College Day: Grades K-8
Students may wear
T-shirts/sweatshirts/jerseys representing colleges and universities.
ALL students MUST wear their regular school uniform
pants or skirts.

WEDNESDAY, February 1st
100th Day of School
Mass with Purcell Marian High School
Backwards Day: Grades K-8
Students may wear their gym uniforms backwards.
THURSDAY, February 2nd
Awards Assembly
Dress-Up Day: Grades K-8
Students may wear their Sunday Best/Fancy clothing to school.
Girls can wear skirts
and dresses of appropriate lengths. Boys can wear shirts, ties or suits. No
open toed shoes, sandals or shoes with heels.
NO JEANS or DENIM SKIRTS/DRESSES!!
FRIDAY, February 3rd
Morning – D.E.A.R Day (Drop Everything And Read): Grades K-8
Afternoon - Movie and Treat Day: Grades K-8
Penny Wars
· Students will have a penny war to raise money for Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio*.
· Students may bring in pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and dollar bills.
·
Pennies count as
positive points. All other money (nickels, dimes, quarters, dollars, checks)
count as negative points.
For example a nickel is minus 5 points, $1.00 is equal is
minus 100 points.
· All checks need to be made out to Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio.
· The Class with the most points will win a prize.
Care Packages for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital
We will collect items to make care packages to the children at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital who have extended stays. Each class is collecting specific items, please see the list below:
Grades K-4
Legos/Duplo Blocks Pretend Food (plastic) and dishes

We need all items by Friday, February 3rd.
* Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio provides programs and services to entire Southwestern Ohio area. They provide programs in the area of Adoption & Pregnancy Services (Adoption, Post Adoptive Counseling and Pregnancy Counseling); Basic Needs (Benefits Bank, Emergency Assistance, Food Bank, Food Pantry); Community Outreach (Caregiver Assistance Network, Early Childhood Mental Health Intervention, Northern Brown Senior Center, Parent Education, Personal & Family Growth, Postponing Sexual Involvement); Immigration and Refugee Resettlement (Legal Immigration Services, Refugee Resettlement, and Su Casa Hispanic Center); Mental Health Services (Counseling and Sexual Abuse Treatment); and Volunteer Services (Senior Companions, Foster Grandparents, RSV, and General Agency Volunteer Services). Their services are open, utilized and available to people of all faiths.
Students who do not adhere to the rules will have disciplinary action taken against them.
