Animal Book Requirements

6th Grade Project:  Animal Identification Book

  1. Organize by phyla (chordata [5], arthropod [3], mollusk [3], annelids [1],

echinoderms [2])

  1. Chordata will be further classified into fish, birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians
  2. Each phyla or class will be described on a separate page.
  3. Use either PowerPoint or Microsoft Word.

 Use your book and the internet to gather the following information.

  1. Each phyla or class must contain a list of specific characteristics. 
  2. Choose one or two examples from each phyla and include its complete taxonomy.
  3. No pictures can be added until all information is complete.

 Due Date:  May 16, 2008

 Example:

 Phyla = Annelids

 Description:  Segmented Worms;  they have no legs and no hard skeleton.  The body has many segments but 3 main sections, a front, a middle and a back.  The body is covered in tiny hairs which helps the worm feel vibrations.  Their color is white, gray, pink, or reddish brown.  They have no eyes and communicate through touch or chemicals.
